Nintendo DS Lite: My New Obsession |

Having never been a fan of computer or videos games (Mario Bros circa 1988 excluded, of course) I wasn’t wholly receptive to the idea of the Nintendo DS Lite (NDS). Still, I was convinced by another that it would be a great travelling aid and that ‘we’ could play games together, wirelessly!
To keep the peace, I muttered something about it being a good idea. Fast forward to the next day, and there it was, a shiny new black NDS lite.
To sweeten the deal it was armed with myriad of games. I feigned interest and thought it would be a five minute wonder. Play a few games and then wait for him to get bored. Stow it away in a cupboard, out of sight, out of mind, chapter closed.
Plan did not go accordingly….. I’m obsessed with it. I visit Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training every day. The Doctor gets upset if you don’t and tells you how much he missed you. Thanks to Dr Kawashima my brain age went from 80 to 20 in a week. Ten years under its real age.
Don’t get me started on Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I did the unthinkable- barely watched TV- until I had solved everything the game threw at me. It may have taken 18 hours of playing but it was worth it.
The multiplay function of Scrabble for NDS is awesome, no finicking about with tiles, anymore. Now normal Scrabble just feels old fashioned! I can play anyone brave or stupid enough to challenge me with just my brain that has the wealth of its years and the sharpness of a 20 year old.
What can I say! I love my new Nintendo DS but I know a certain someone is doing secret brain training too and someday soon, just maybe, he could beat me in a game of scrabble. Then again, maybe not.
